Setting up the Canvas with Photoshop

Today I opened up a new canvas for our picture, we set it up for 200 pixles 27.5 by 21.5 centimeters with CMYK color and transparent. Then I put my 5 by 7 picture on my canvas according to my design. I wrote all of my text according to my design and I saved it on my pen drive and on my home directory.

Selecting a Photograph and Editing it

Today I looked through all of my photographs that I have of the ear and I selected the one that got all of the ear and could get a could picture if I wanted to add something of the ear anatomy. Later I used Picassa to focus the color in one circle around the ear. I moved my picture to photoshop so that I could put a resolution of 200 and made the picture 5 by 7 inches. I saved my picture on the home directory so that I could look at it later.

Last Tech class

The last tech class I took all the pictures that I needed to take of my ear. I also finished editing it so my plan is wrong. All the dates in my plan need to be taken back 2 weekdays (weekends don't count). I had taken a lot of pictures and I chose one and focused the color on just my ear nothing in the background.

My plan

  1. I will take the photograph on Tuesday February 19 using a camera that I will ask miss Chebly for on that day. I will go and take the picture in the butterfly garden or in the grassy feild next to the computer lab. I do not believe that I will need a tripod because I can use a friends help with taking the picture. Once I get to the place where I take my picture I will take 5-10 pictures of my face or just of my ear.
  2. On Thursday February 21 I will pick the photograph that I like the most and edit it using photo shop 6 or picassa. My plan is that if I have a picture of just my face I will leave the ears and delete the entire face. I can also just use a plain picture of my ear and put it repetetive times as the backround.
  3. On Monday February 25 I will begun working on writing the text. I plan to write and essay with a description of my ear. I could use a poem if I need a last minute backup plan.
  4. On Wednesday February 27 I will set up how my pictures canvas is going to be using Photoshop 6 or Picassa to make my canvas 5*7 inches.
  5. And finally on Friday February 29 I will print my picture and stick it to the sheet with the text.

My Design

I chose design #3. This design is landscape format, with the Title at the top left corner. Name right next to title. My picture 5 by 7 underneath the title in color. On the right there will be writing all the way down to the bottom. I chose this design because it has a reasonable amount of space for writing and still great space for the picture.

Information on the ear

The ear is split up into three parts, the outer ear, the middle ear, and of course the inner ear. The outer ear is connected to the external auditory canal where the sound bounces off all the walls until it reaches the inside. Deeper inside is the timpanic membrane, the eardrum. The eardrum sends the sound to the middle ear where there are some bones that transfer the sound into vibrations and then sends it to the inner ear. The inner ear can detect accelerated movements like vibrations that enter the ear. The inner ear then translates that into something that the brain can understand.
Interesting fact
There are muscles above a horses ear that lets him turn them, humans have the same muscle but only some are strong enough to just wiggle them.

MLA citation and explanation of use

Henderson, Tom. "glenbrook.k12.il.us." The Human Ear. 2007. 7 Feb 2008

I used this page because it is kid friendly and easy to use. Another reason I wanted to use it is that the person who made the cite actually included his name and that was very helpful.

"kidshealth.org." Let's Hear It for the Ear!. 2008. Nemours Foundation. 7 Feb 2008 .

I added this one because it was made by an education organization called the Nemours Foundation.

"ndt-ed.org." The Human Ear. NDT Resource Center. 7 Feb 2008

I chose this source because it is made especially for students in High School by a special and acknoledged Student Resource Center

Howstuffworks How hearing works. 2008. Howstuffworks, inc.. 7 Feb 2008

This is made by and organization that focuses on explaining how many parts of the body work. I use it because it has easy to understand and acknoledged.

"infj.ulst.ac.uk." A description of the workings. UJJ, NIBEC. 7 Feb 2008

I chose this site because it is linked to a technologically advanced student friendly website.
